XP: Turning Off Autorun and Autoplay Function


Actually autorun and autoplay function is to facilitate the windows XP users, but this function can inhibit the performance of your windows XP, even this function may increase the likelihood of entry of virus into your operating system.
And not all programs require the installation CD AutoRun function in the installation process, because the installation process can still be done manually. For it is better just turn off the autorun and autoplay feature, so that optimal performance lwbih ewindows
Here is how to disable autorun and autoplay function
1. Click the menu [Start> Run]
2. Typing gpedit.msc
3. Group Policy window will appear
4. On the left side bar, in Computer Configuration, click [Administrative Templates> System> Turn off Autoplay]
5. Pop up windows will appear turn off the autoplay properties, select enabled
6. To turn off autoplay on all drives, click the pull down menu, then select all the drives, or select a CD-ROOM fungdi drives to turn off auto play only on CD-ROOM, but functions on auto play on other media such as USB flash disk is still active
7. Click OK
8. Do the same thing on the menu Administrative Templates under User Configuration
9. After that, right click on the CD / DVD drive (mine in F:) and then choose properties
10. Click the auto play tab, then select the file type on the pull down menu (Ex: Music Files)
11. If you have, put a check on the radio button Select an action to perform, and then click No Action icon and then click Apply
12. Do the Same on the other type File and restart your computer
